What recovery means to me is complete freedom from self. I have been in bondage for more than half my life, & when I thought the only way out was death, God came knocking on my door with a gun & a badge. Today, recovery has shown me there is a way out of a life that I felt was no way out. I am now a productive member of society, living my best life. Recovery doesn't mean my life is easy or I have no troubles, but that I have a choice in how I respond to what happens. Today, I have a wonderful support network made of biological, &  non- biological family, the best coworkers in the world, & a God of my understanding, who cheer me on daily. I thank recovery for giving me life.
